Baarat

This is where the marriage procession begins, as the groom's side walks to the wedding site. The baraat headed with fireworks, live music, and lots of dancing from the groom's side, while the groom himself traditionally travels to the bride's house on a white horse.

Varmala

The varmala ritual is an exchange of garlands between the bride and groom.

Phere

Standing under a mandap, or canopy, the bride and groom accept seven vows while taking rounds of the fire (the representation of God). The walking around the fire hand in hand symbolizes the couple choosing to walk together in life, supporting and caring for each other.
